 Appearing before a crowd of 1.5 million cheering supports, President Corazon Aquino announced Sunday she was restoring legal rights suspended under the deposed regime of Ferdinand Marcos. Making her first public appearance since Marcos fled into exile in Hawaii, ending months of political upheaval.

Terrorists apparently avenging Britain's role in the U.S. attack on Libya killed three Britons, kidnapped a British journalist and fired grenades at the British ambassador's residence, officials said today. After the bodies were discovered, there was confusion over their identity, but  were told the bodies were definitely British citizens.

Joseph Cicippio Hostage

Gunmen slipped through security at the American University of Beirut and kidnapped an American school official, the second U.S. citizen abducted in Lebanon this week. No group immediately claimed responsibility. Joseph Cicippio, 51, deputy comptroller of the university, was kidnapped after leaving his seventh-floor apartment.

President Corazon Aquino today brushed aside rumors of a coup and said she was proceeding with her planned state visit to Japan next week. "I think every time I plan a trip abroad there's so much talk about a coup and each time I say that if I believe that there would be a coup I would not be  leaving the country."

Thai International Flight Bombing

Explosives planted in a lavatory of a Thai International Airways jet may have caused the rupture of a rear bulkhead that sent the plane plunging 21,000 feet Sunday before it made an emergency landing in Osaka. A small bomb had been taken aboard the A-300 Airbus, which was bound for Osaka from Bangkok via Manila.
